christmas sweetness, vol I

With all the craziness the accompanies my favorite celebration of the year, I've been neglecting this little ol' blog. We've been busy bees--working and traveling and crafting and visiting and hosting and attending and decorating.

Here are a few sneak peeks from around the Petaja home. We received a beautiful snow this week that made it really feel like Christmas. (Especially for my Mid-West boy who is used to snow fall November through March.)

I'm hoping Tec can take a few "real" pictures for me over the next few days. But boy-oh-boy do I love me some ShakeIt photos. Cute and easy? Yes, thank you, I'll take it.

What are your favorite decorations this time of year?
It seems that without fail, mine is always our Christmas tree. It warms up our living room and makes the space so cozy and inviting.

I like my stockings. I made them out of my wedding dress.
Growing up though, my for sure favourite was always my parents wooden nativity scene. my dad fixed it with a bulb in the back to light up the wooden camels and three wise men and donkey...... xxx ooo happy third advent.

nikaela marie! you made your stockings out of your wedding dress--how creative are you?! i'm sure they're so special and beautiful. and i, too, have a special place in my heart for our nativity scene. my parents gave my sister and i a few pieces at a time to a nativity set over the years so that when we were out on our own we'd have a beautiful, full scene. once my husband and i were married and celebrating our first christmas together we realized his parents had done the same thing for him with the exact same nativity set!

i hope you and your love enjoy a beautiful christmas together. and happy third advent to you, too!

Great photos!

I'm glad you got some snow-- it always helps to make the holidays feel really HERE when it starts to snow. :)

My favorite Christmas decoration this year is my new Bucky (cardboard deer head). I ordered the white one and hung lots of white picture frames all around him. It kind of takes my living room to a whole other level. Can't wait to see more pics of your cheery Christmas home. :-)

Hi Chelsea!
I love your photos, Christmas decorations in your house definitely beautiful. I was inspired to make ornaments such as in photo number 2 (the card hanging on the door huh?!)
By the way, one Christmas decoration that I like on my Christmas tree is a deer, if you want you can see it here -
