We had a successfully surprising birthday party for a sweet friend this week. The fact that the party was a month after his actual birthday probably helped.
His wife planned the entire event while on the road and the night couldn't have gone more beautifully. We pooled all of our glassware, candles, linens, lights, decor and furniture so that the only expenses were the succulents and a few small accessories... like the customized fortune cookies that held sayings in them typical of our honorary guest!
Don't you just love a pretty backyard hang with good food, drinks and people you love?

i adore this. what a great idea to pool together the accessories - i always think that way when it comes to dishes or "we need an extra coffee maker!!!" but chairs, linens, glassware - brilliant. i love how organic it looks - almost effortless. mental note made. Thanks for sharing.
